முகனைவென்று வாகை முடித்தோய்! - சகமுடித்தவாரிதனிற் புதிய மாவாய்க் கிடந்தநெடுஞ்
சூர்உடலம் கீண்ட சுடர்வேலாய்! - போரவுணன்அங்கம் இருகூறாய் அடல்மயிலும் சேவலுமாய்த்
துங்கமுடன் ஆர்த்தெழுந்து தோன்றுதலும் - அங்கவற்றுள்சீறும் அரவைப்பொருத சித்ரமயில் வாகனமாய்
ஏறி நடாத்தும் இளையோனே! - மாறிவருசேவல் பகையைத் திறல்சேர் பதாகையென
மேவத் தனித்துயர்ந்த மேலோனே! - மூவர்குறைமுடித்து விண்ணங் குடியேற்றித் தேவர்
சிறைவிடுத்து ஆட்கொண்டளித்ததேவே! - மறைமுடிவாம்சைவக்கொழுந்தே! தவக்கடலே! வான்உதவும்
தெய்வக் களிற்றை மணஞ் செய்தோனே - பொய்விரவுகாமம் முனிந்த கலைமுனிவன் கண்ணருளால்
வாம மடமானின் வயிற்றுத் தித்துப் - பூமருவுகானக் குறவர் களிகூரப் பூங்குயில்போல்
ஏனற் புனங்காத்து இனிதிருந்து - மேன்மைபெறத்தேள்ளித் தினைமாவும் தேனும் பரிந்தளித்த
வள்ளிக்கொடியை மணந்தோனே! - உள்ளம் உவந்து
English Meaning
"You are the God, who hurled the heroic and sharp lance to destroy the demon Thārakan and the Krauñca-hill [where the demon Cūrapanman was hiding];
you are abiding on the throne of compassion at Thiruccenthūr, where the clear waves of the sea bring ashore gem-stones;
you granted refuge to Indra, who was mounted on the white elephant [airāvatham];
you sent the victorious broad-shouldered hero [Vīravāku] to the city of Mayēṅthiram, surrounded by the sea, in order to ascertain whether Cūrapanman, the leader of the demons, was inclined to grant freedom to the celestials;
Because Cūrapanman did not free the celestials, nor did he worship you, you were victorious by destroying the four-fold army of the demons including Cūrapanman, Pāṉumukan [Cūrapanman's eldest son] and Ciŋkamukan [Cūrapanman's younger brother].
You have the lustrous lance, which pierced and split the body of Cūrapanman, who had stood in the disguise of a new mango-tree in the middle of the sea;
when the body of Cūrapanman was split in two parts, and when one of them became a peacock, and the other became a rooster, you, who are eternally young, chose to use the peacock as your vehicle, and you are now riding on it; and you turned the rooster into your flag of victory.
You are the God, who, by destroying the demons, removed the suffering of the celestials like Brahmā, Thirumāl, and Rudra and set them free from prison, rehabilitated them in the celestial world, and accepted them as your devotees.
You are the eternally youthful leader of Saivism; you are the ocean of compassion; you are the consort of Theyvayānai-ammai; you married Vaḷḷi-ammai, who was conceived in the womb of a young female deer and, to the delight of hunters dwelling in the forest full of flowers, guarded the millet-field by driving away the birds with her beautiful voice like that of a cuckoo, and lovingly offered you the millet-flour together with honey…"
